Four million pilgrims descended on Touba on 11 December 2014 for the 'Grand Magal' festival commemorating the exile of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, the founder of Mouridism.
As in previous years, Orabank Senegal played its part in helping to organise this national event. On 6 December, a delegation from the bank headed up by Mr Cissé, Head of Facilities Management, accompanied by Mrs Ndao, Head of Branches, met with the Caliph General of the Mourides, Serigne Cheikh Sidy Mactar Mbacké.
4,008 bottles of water and a donation of one million CFA francs were presented to the Caliph as a symbol of the bank's support. In response to this gesture, the Caliph's spokesperson thanked Orabank and its Chief Executive Officer for their ongoing and generous support and promised that Touba would assist the bank. The Caliph then offered prayers for the delegation and the success of Orabank Senegal.
